The production team behind Indian 2 has dismissed rumours that the film has been dropped. The highly anticipated sequel to Indian (1996) was announced at the Bigg Boss finale earlier this year. To be directed by Shankar, the film has Kamal Haasan reprising his role as the freedom fighter-turned-vigilante Senapathi.
With Shankar busy shooting songs for 2.0 and Kamal making plans to launch his political party, rumours began circulating that the project had been dropped.
A spokesperson for producer Dil Raju has refuted this. “Indian 2 is very much on. Director Shankar and Kamal Haasan are wrapping up their commitments, post which we will start work on Indian 2.”
The spokesperson confirmed that filming is scheduled to begin by February 2018.
