Actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are the chief guests for the foundation-laying ceremony of the new Nadigar Sangam building, according to a report in Dina Malar.
The Nadigar Sangam’s current office bearers – Nasser, Vishal and Karthi, had promised to make sure that the new Nadigar Sangam building in the run-up to the elections in 2015. In a recent press release, they said that they felt ‘relieved’ to have kept up their promise. “We are relieved that we were able to complete the plans in time. Now the onus is once again on us to make sure that the buildings are completed in time. We look forward to this journey and are glad to have received the support of so many of our members. We would also like to express our deep gratitude towards Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan for agreeing to come for the ceremony.”

The ambitious project boasts a 1000-seater auditorium, preview theatre, a wedding hall and the main office building of the Nadigar Sangam, is expected to cost Rs 26 Crores. Actor Suriya and his father Sivakumar have agreed to bear the cost of the auditorium, according to a report in Hindu. Proceeds from the Sangam’s Star Cricket Match – to be held in April – will also go towards the construction.
The CMDA has approved the plans, and has already granted a planning permit to the Sangam. With these formalities out of the way, the Sangam hopes to begin construction soon.
