The Chennai High Court has issued an interim stay order preventing the release of STR Silambarasan’s Vaalu. As reported earlier, Magic Rays, a distribution firm that bought the theatrical rights of the movie in 2013 appealed to the High Court to stop the release of the film. The case was taken up by the court today.
The court has asked the producers of the film to file a reply petition in a week’s time, following which the judgement will be announced on the 13th of July. Meanwhile, the release of the film has been stayed.
Vaalu, starring STR and Hansika, has seen several delays in the past due to production issues. Before today’s judgment, the movie was scheduled to be released on the 17th of July. It is unclear if this will result in another postponement.
