The shooting of Thoongaavanam, starring Kamal Haasan and Trisha Krishan in lead roles, has been completed. The first schedule of the film was shot in Hyderabad, following which, the crew moved to Chennai.

The film is an official remake of the French film Sleepless Night. Prakash Raj, Sampath, Kishore, Asha Sharath, Madhu Shalini, Yugi Sethu and Uma Riyaz play supporting roles in the film.
There have been reports that the rights of the film might be sold to Thirupathi Brothers in an effort to compensate for the losses made by Uttama Villain. Directed by Rajesh Selva, the movie has music scored by Ghibran, while cinematographer Sanu Varghese and editor Vijay Shankar are part of the technical team. Thoongaavanam is a Tamil- Telugu bilingual, with the Telugu version titled Cheekati Rajyam.
