The teaser of Jagame Thandhiram, the upcoming Tamil dark comedy drama film starring Dhanush, released on Monday. Initially eyeing a theatrical release, the film will soon premiere on Netflix.
Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Jagame Thandhiram narrates the story of Suruli (Dhanush), a nomadic gangster who has to choose between good and evil in a war for what one can truly call home, according to the press release issued by Netflix India.
Speaking about the film’s script, Subbaraj said in the release, “Jagame Thandhiram is my dream film. A script that’s very close to my heart. A story that needs to be told, and heard by audiences across the world. I am eagerly looking forward to share this film about a ‘Tricky World’ (Jagame Thandhiram).”
Dhanush will be starring opposite Aishwarya Lekshmi and Scottish film and television actor James Cosmo, who is best known for the hit television series Game Of Thrones and the 2005 fantasy film The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion.
Jagame Thandhiram also features Kalaiyarasan and Joju George in pivotal roles. The film is produced by S Sashikanth under his YNot Studios banner along with Reliance Entertainment while Santhosh Narayanan composed the music.
According to the Netflix press release, Jagame Thandhiram will launch globally in over 190 countries to be available to its 204 million members across the world, at the same time in multiple languages.
Due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown, a number of big films chose to release through various OTT platforms.

Following the release of Jagame Thandhiram’s motion poster in February 2020, the film’s makers had taken to Twitter to clarify fans’ speculations and wrote: “Jagam is still healing & not back to normal. Untill then, be patient for the theatres to open & don’t believe in rumours. The entire team is waiting to see @dhanushkraja go #rakitarakita on a big screen soon Just #chillbro”
