Actor Ranbir Kapoor’s first production, Jagga Jasoos, which has been in the works for a while, will hit the screens on July 14. The actor, speaking to Indian Express about making a sequel to the Anurag Basu directorial, said:
“If these characters are loved and people really take to them, then we will come back with a sequel as we are trying to make this a franchise. Hopefully, we will receive that kind of love and acceptance for us to take this forward.”
When quizzed about turning producer, Ranbir said, “I don’t take that kind of pressure or responsibility. Anurag Basu and me wanted to collaborate again after Barfi. And we thought we have an idea that we both love, and this is a universal film, so we decided to produce it.”
Ranbir also added that Jagga Jasoos will be very different from Barfi. “You might find the film’s texture similar, especially after looking at the trailer and songs, but the characters are extremely different. Barfi was predominantly a silent film while Jagga is musical. My character in this film stammers, that’s why he sings,” he said.
Jagga Jasoos, also starring Katrina Kaif, features music by Pritam.
