Jai is set to play a superhero in his upcoming film titled Breaking News. The film is a fantasy drama and will be directed by debutant Andrew Pandian.
Talking about the movie, the director says, “ I had always wanted to make an indigenous superhero film like Spiderman in the Indian scenario, which does not compromise on nativity and logic for the sake of effects.” He believes his debut venture to be an answer to that. “Breaking News will be a fantasy drama about how a common man turns superhero to transform India into a paradise,” the director said to CE.
Pandian is a former visual effects supervisor who has worked on movies like Anniyan and Mudhalvan, which explains why the theme of the common man turning superhero inspires him. Both the movies have been directed by Shankar whose films showcase the common man turning vigilante often.
Breaking News will involve close to ninety minutes of visual effects. The movie is being financed by Norway based producer K.Thirukadal Udhayam. Johny Lal is the cinematographer on the project while editing will be taken care of by Antony.
The movie will go on floors by the 21st of this month in Chennai.
Meanwhile, Jai was last seen in Jarugandi. The movie was based around a young man who wants to launch his own travel agency and the challenges he faces when he applies for a loan. Jointly produced by Nithin Sathya and Badri Kasthuri, Jarugandi also featured Daniel Annie Pope, Robo Shankar, Bose Venkat and Amit Tiwari in pivotal roles.
