Janani Iyer has signed her next film in which she will be seen opposite Ashok Selvan.
According to a report in The Times Of India, the film directed by debutant Sandeep Shyam will have Janani Iyer and Ashok Selvan uniting for the second time after Thegidi, a 2014 neo noir mystery thriller. The upcoming film is also said to be a murder mystery. Actor Ashok Selvan made the announcement on his Twitter handle.

Talking about the film, the director told The Times Of India, “This is a love-cum-murder mystery. On a broader perspective, this is also a philosophical subject. I wanted actors who can pull this off with maturity and confidence. I felt that both Janani and Ashok will be apt for the film.” The director also added that Ashok Selvan will be seen in two different looks. The film went on floors recently, and the next schedule will start sometime in February.
Janani said, “Even though I get quite a few offers, I take my time to sign a film. I was choosy, I am choosy. But this one came right after I was out of the Bigg Boss house. I loved the subject and the manner in which Sandeep narrated the script. And, of course, I am delighted to work with Ashok again.”

Ashok Selvan’s upcoming films include Oxygen, directed by Ananda Krishnan of Metro fame, Red Rum, Jack directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj, focusing on the relationship between an army dog and a soldier. Produced by Kenanya Films, the film will feature the actor as a soldier. He will also be seen in Nenjamellam Kadhal directed by Nirman.
In 2018, the actor’s only release was the Priyadarshan directorial Sila Samayangalil which was out on Netflix. It also featured Prakash Raj, Sriya Reddy, MS Bhaskar and Nasser, with music by Ilaiyaraaja.
