John Abraham has signed a deal with Amazon Prime to make three miniseries for the web channel. Mid-Day reports on the story, and also quotes a source: “The producer in him decided to make this move. John understands that the market is drastically changing and wanted JA Entertainment to do path-breaking work on the platform. While he will continue producing films, his team will work on three web series for Amazon.”
John Abraham had earlier tweeted:
Fantastic meeting with @RoyPrice @niteshkripalani and the entire team @AmazonVideoIN. Looking forward to a big partnership ahead. pic.twitter.com/zs4XxUoHZd

It is speculated that John will collaborate with long-time associate Shoojit Sircar for the web series. Currently, John and Sircar are shooting 1911, a film about Calcutta’s history-making Mohun Bagan football club which won against the English football team. Ayushman Khuranna is also in this film. Mid-Day and other outlets speculate that this film might be turned into one of the web series.
Alternatively, John Abraham may choose to work with Nishikant Kamat.
This news comes right on the back of the one about Rajkummar Rao and Hansal Mehta working on a miniseries about Subash Chandra Bose for Amazon Prime. Will we see more film stars going digital?
