Director Raju Murugan’s second directorial venture, Joker will release on July 1. The film is a political satire and has Guru Somasundaram in the lead along with newcomer Ramya Pandian.

Kabali, which was slated to release on the July 1, rescheduled its release date to July 15, as the makers did not want to release the film during Ramzan. Hence, Joker was able to take the 1 July slot. Shot primarily in Dharmapuri, the film is about a man in his mid-30s who stands up against the corrupt political system.
Joker‘s music by Sean Roldan was released in April. Chezhiyan is the cinematographer of the film and Shanmugam Velusamy is the editor. The film is bankrolled by S R Prabhu Dream Warrior Pictures.
