On Monday, the producer of the upcoming film July Kaatril announced that the families of the 44 CRPF troops who died in Pulwama attack will be given Rs 1 lakh each. While the country celebrated the release of Indian Air Wing commander Abhinandhan Vardhaman, the families of troops who lost their lives in the attack were not as spoken about.
At the audio launch of July Kaatril in Chennai, celebrities like director KS Ravikumar, Karthi, the film’s producer Saravanan Pazhaniappan, director KC Sundaram were present. The event was hosted by actress Kasthuri. Karthi, who was invited as a guest, announced that he will donate Rs 1 lakh to the family of Subramanian, one among the 44 soldiers. The cash was handed over to Subramanian’s sister. The producer of the film, Saravanan, then came forward to say that the film’s team will donate Rs 1 lakh to each of the families.
July Kaatril is directed by debutant KC Sundaram, who had earlier assisted the late cinematographer-director Jeeva. The director spoke about the film and said it was a romantic-comedy which wasn’t exactly a love story, but it revolved around relationships. The film stars Ananth Nag, who played supporting roles in Neram, Amara Kaaviyam and Vetrivel. Anju Kurian of Chennai 2 Singapore fame, Paloma Monnappa and Samyuktha Menon play the lead.
Sundaram said that the film was centred on the three characters, their love lives, and how they handle romance and breakup. He said, “I have tried a different storytelling pattern here, by showing the same scene from different perspectives. One from the hero’s perspective and second from first heroine’s perspective and third from second heroine’s perspective. I’m sure that I’m the first person to take such a film in India.”
The music is composed by Joshua Shridhar. The film is currently in post-production, after being shot in Chennai, Goa and Kodaikanal.
