Jr NTR has lashed out at director Puri Jagannadh after the latter accused him of stealing his idea for the actor’s forthcoming film, Jai Lava Kusa. Jr NTR’s publicist said, “The news is not true. It is unfortunate that such allegations are being made. Can’t speak more about this at this point.”
Days after the film’s teaser was launched, revealing a stuttering Jr NTR in the film, Telugu director Puri Jagannadh alleged that the character is based on his idea. According to a report in The Times Of India, a source was quoted as saying, “Jr NTR has a triple role in Jai Lava Kusa. The character Jai, who is a devotee of Raavan and has a negative streak in him, is seen stammering in the teaser. Interestingly, Puri and Jr NTR were supposed to do a film together and had discussed a similar character during their meeting last December. This cannot be mere coincidence.”
Reacting to this, a source close to the actor revealed that apart from the stammering trait, there is absolutely zero coincidence between both the characters. “The truth is Puri had narrated a story to NTR a few years ago. It was about a martial arts artist with a stutter. He even narrated the same story to Allu Arjun. Incidentally, both of them rejected the story and moved on with their respective commitments.”
The source further added that this isn’t the first time a stuttering character is being portrayed on screen.
Jai Lava Kusa also stars Raashi Khanna, Posani Krishna Murali, Brahmaji, Pradeep Rawat, Jayprakash Reddy, Prabhas Sreenu, Praveen and Hamsa Nandini. It is slated to release on September 21.
