Telugu actor Junior NTR is not a part of Mahanati, the bilingual biopic on legendary actress Savithri.
According to an IANS report, NTR was never really a part of the project in the first place.
“NTR is not part of the project. Whatever you’re reading about him playing a crucial role is nothing but plain rumour,” says a source.
Last week, reports suggested that the actor had been roped for an extended cameo. The actor, who is good friends with the film’s producer Swapna Dutt, was speculated to play his famous grandfather, NTR, in the Savithri biopic.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, Mahanati has Keerthy Suresh in the role of Savithri. Dulquer Salman plays Gemini Ganesan in the film, while Samantha Ruth Prabhu has an important role as well. The film went on floors earlier this month.
Savithri is widely regarded as one of South Indian cinema’s finest actresses. She debuted in 195o with the Telugu film Pelli Chesi Choodu and went on to act in over 40 films in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. She won the Rashtrapati Award in 1960 for Chivaraku Migiledi. Savithri married actor Gemini Ganesan in 1952. In 1981, she succumbed to cancer at the age of 45.
