A few crucial action scenes in Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai will be shot in Ladakh and other regions of Kashmir. The next schedule of the film expected to begin later in September or early October and Mani Ratnam is currently scouting for locations.
“Mani sir along with action director Sham Kaushal is finalising locations in Ladakh. They’re planning to shoot an action sequence – not the regular kind – but one that’ll be very realistic,” a source from the film’s unit was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Kaatru Veliyidai, written, directed and produced by Mani Ratnam, is a romantic-drama. This marks Mani Ratnam’s return to Kashmir where he shot two of his films – Roja and the 1998 film Dil Se.
Shooting of Kaatru Veliyidai, starring Karthi, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Shraddha Srinath, started in July this year. A majority of the scenes were shot in Ooty and Chennai. Almost 5o% of the talkie portions of the film will be completed in the Kashmir schedule.
Actors Rukmini Vijayakumar, RJ Balaji and Delhi Ganesh will be playing supporting roles in the film. It will have songs tuned by Mani Ratnam’s regular collaborator A R Rahman. Ravi Varman will be handling the camera for the project, and Vairamuthu will be writing the lyrics.
