The shooting of director Pa Ranjith’s Kabali is underway, and producer Kalaipuli S Thanu has revealed that the film has already been sold in the United States of America for Rs 8.5 crores.
Speaking at Malaratum Manidhaneyam, a welfare event organised by rajinikanth’s fans, Kalaipuli S Thanu said, “Kabali is the first ever Tamil film to have been sold for Rs 8.5 crores in the overseas. Every Tamil movie’s distribution rights price has never crossed Rs. 2.5 crores so far. I don’t care if IT department raids my office.”

Rajinikanth is simultaneously shooting for Kabali and Shankar’s 2.0. Sources say that the makers of Kabali are planning to wrap up the shoot by February 28. Post-production work would start from March, and the film is likely to hit the theatres on April 14.
Kabali stars Rajinikanth, Radhika Apte and Dhansika in the lead roles. Actors Kalaiarasan, Rithwika, John Vijay, Kishore, Mime Gopi, Rosyam Nor, Winston Chao, Kesavan Naidu and Loga Nash will play supporting roles. Music director Santhosh Narayanan have completed scoring for the film.
