Director Pradeep Ranganathan is best known for his short film App(a) Lock. Jayam Ravi’s spokesperson last year said that the actor had enjoyed Pradeep Ranganathan’s short film and had expressed an interest in working with him.
The actor will be losing close to 20kg for the role. Isari Ganesh, who produces the movie under the banner of Vels International, says “When Pradeep and I informed Ravi about the film and his role, he was thrilled to come on board. He didn’t even bat an eye when we said that he has to lose about 20 to 25 kgs for the role.”

“It’s not just about the physical transformation. The character comes with a vast emotional range,” added the producer. The makers had announced the movie last year with the launch of a video.
According to reports, the movie went on floors in September last year. The film will also star Samyuktha Hegde, Yogi Babu and director KS Ravi Kumar. Richard M Nathan serves as the cinematographer on the project while Hip Hop Thamizha has been hired to compose music.
Meanwhile, Kajal Agarwal has been signed on for Indian 2 – the sequel to Shankar’s 1996 film starring Kamal Haasan. The actress will reportedly be learning Kalaripayattu for the film. Though the movie has already gone on floors, the shoot has been put on hold as Kamal Haasan is busy campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections.
The shooting will resume after the elections are held in the state.
