You have seen Kajal Aggarwal either in the role of a girl-next-door or a glamourous diva. According to the latest buzz, she is likely to play the role of Surpanakha from the Hindu mythological epic Ramayana.
It has been learnt that Bhargav, a National Award-winning animation filmmaker, is in talks with the actress to be a part of a big-budget film that will tell the story of the Ramayana from Surpanakha’s perspective.
“There are many many films on the Ramayana, but no one has ever concentrated on Surpanakha’s story. This film aims to do just that. It will trace the story of how Surpanakha was charmed by the brothers, Ram and Laxman, and how she was eventually the reason for the great war,” shares the source.
As for Kajal, she seems to be excited by the story. Sources reveal that the actress has heard the script and has even carefully looked at the storyboard details and sketches made of her character and is quite excited by the role. She’s yet to sign on the dotted line, though.

“Kajal has reached a phase in her career where she’s extremely keen to take up meaningful roles. Even though she loves commercial cinema and the wide audience that it brings, she’s been looking for films that excite her in terms of character. If one examines her recent films, they’d definitely notice the change. That is one of the reasons why she’s even keen to work on this film. Meanwhile, the actress will be seen in the Tamil remake of the Bollywood blockbuster Queen that had Kangana Ranaut. The Tamil version will be shot in Karur, Tirupur and Paris and it will be directed by Ramesh Aravind.
