Kajol Says Lots Of “Fake Honesty” Going Around, In Veiled Dig At Karan Johar

Kajol, who had tweeted in support of husband Ajay Devgn during his fallout with Karan Johar during the releases of Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, told a leading daily, that there was a lot of ‘fake honesty’ going around. The comment is being seen as a veiled reference to Johar’s comments in his recent autobiography, An Unsuitable Boy

In the book, Johar has chapter titled “Friends and Fallouts,” in which he writes that Kajol had “killed every bit of emotion [Karan] had for her for twenty-five years,” when she tweeted “Shocked!” in response to allegations that Johar had bribed the distributor to promote his film.

Now, Kajol has said, “Well, I think there’s a lot of fake honesty going around as well. I really do. There are a lot of people going around and saying, ‘You know I’m being honest’ and actually, it’s just for selling books, or movies and ratings. I don’t know, there are a lot of reasons for faking in front of the camera. Or in front of the public, for that matter. I think honesty has been abused over time and space.”

Devgn and Johar fell out last year, when their films – Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil respectively – were slated to clash at the box-office. Devgn made public an audio recording of a conversation between Shivaay’s producer Kumar Mangat and self-professed critic Kamaal R Khan. In the audio clip, Khan claims that he was paid Rs 25 lakh to promote Ae Dil Hai Mushkil over the other Diwali release, Shivaay.

While Johar has gone on record to say that he and Kajol weren’t as close as before, Kajol has remained silent. On the subject of making amends, she said, “I think relationships are like that. Relationships are about working things out. So I do believe that if they are worth it, two people will make the effort to work through it.”

She also said that one day she would talk about the issue between them, but would wait for the right time. She said, “I think that the best thing for me to do right now, as far as this entire topic is concerned, is to stay silent. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do. When and if I choose to give my opinion on this particular topic, I will make sure the world hears of it.”
