Actor Kamal Haasan watched a special screening of Visaranai this week, and praised both Vetrimaaran and Dhanush for directing such a hard-hitting film. He tweeted his gratitude to his guru Balu Mahendra, for instilling the thirst in his former assistant Vetrimaaran, to create great films.

Visaranai, starring Attakathi Dinesh, Aadukalam Murugadoss and Anandhi, gained international recognition after being screened at the Venice International Film Festival and the Jio MAMI Festival in Mumbai. The film is based on a novel, Lock Up, written by Auto Chandran. Distributed by Lyca Productions, Visaranai will release on February 5.
The festival version of Visaranai did not have any background music. However, the theatrical version, which has been certified with a U/A certificate, will have background music by GV Prakash.
