The Chennai police have stated that there has been no case made against actor Kamal Haasan with respect to his tweets on nilavembu kashayam (that is being distributed by the government as a preventive measure for dengue). According to The Hindu, the cyber crime cell of the city police decided not to initiate action against Haasan after analysing the tweets in question.

“No cognisable case was made out. Hence, we have not registered a case. We made it clear that there was no element of criminal offence in the tweet and we closed the complaint,” a senior police official told The Hindu.
The petitioner, an advocate clerk named Devarajan, had accused Haasan of defamatory comments when the actor tweeted that the herbal tonic may have side-effects.
Devarajan has since approached the Madras High Court, seeking a direction to the city police to register a case against the actor.
