Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, who had launched his party – Makkal Needhi Mayyam – in February this year, announced his next film Thevar Magan 2 on Friday.
When asked about his films during an interview with a Tamil news channel, Haasan said: “We are in talks about my next project and I don’t really know whether I can reveal what it is. But I will speak about it anyway; Thevar Magan 2 and Indian 2 are the only films I have at the moment. Other than these, I couldn’t accept any other film.”
The actor also remarked on the #MeToo campaign during a press meet on Thursday. “Only people who have been accused should comment on it. It is not fair if everyone voices their opinion. If the victims use the #MeToo movement reasonably, then it wouldn’t harm any one. Women have been fighting injustice since Kannagi’s period,” he said.
The actor, who was recently seen in the action drama Vishwaroopam 2, also has Sabash Naidu in the pipeline. In an earlier report, it was said that the actor will resume work on Sabash Naidu soon after completing Big Boss Tamil 2. Half of the film is complete, Kamal said, after which he will work on Indian 2. “But first, Shankar needs to finish 2.0. So, in short, 2 to 2 to 2 to 2 (a reference to the joke in Anbe Sivam).”

Sabash Naidu is also the first movie where both Kamal and his daughter Shruti will be seen together on-screen. It is also said that Ramya Krishnan and Brahmanandam are part of the cast. In the film, Kamal Hassan plays a comic RAW agent who goes to the US to save his daughter. Ilaiyaraaja scores music for the project.
Earlier this year, after launching his party, the actor-politician said that he would be taking a step back from cinema to focus on Makkal Needhi Maiam.
