Vikram, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor-politician Kamal Haasan in the lead, will release in theatres on June 3.
The makers of the film announced this on Monday and also released a short making video of the project via social media, to mark the birthday of the film’s director, Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Also written by Lokesh, Vikram is produced by Haasan’s home banner Raaj Kamal Films International in association with R Mahendran. The film boasts an ensemble star cast that includes Vijay Sethupathi as the primary antagonist, as well as actors Fahadh Faasil, Narain, Gayathrie, Kalidas Jayaram, Shivani Narayanan, and Arjun Das, among others, in pivotal roles.
The upcoming movie, which marks the first collaboration of Haasan with the director, is the actor’s first film since Vishwaroopam 2 (2018) to release in theatres.
Haasan, who had been hosting the reality TV show Bigg Boss since 2017, stepped aside as anchor of the ongoing OTT version of the show, Bigg Boss Tamil Ultimate, in February, to focus on completing the pending work of Vikram. He had mentioned that the reshuffling of the film’s production due to the Covid-19 pandemic had resulted in an unavoidable overlap in his schedule and that he did not want to make artists and technicians wait for him.

Vikram went into production in August 2021 and after 110 days of shoot, including some delays, it was finally wrapped up in early March.
Vikram is Haasan’s 232nd film and it borrows its title from his own 1986 Tamil spy action movie, directed by filmmaker Rajashekar.
The upcoming film features music by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by Girish Gangadharan. It is edited by Philomin Raj. Lokesh has written the dialogues in association with Rathna Kumar.
The latest posters released by the team suggest that the film will also be released in other languages such as Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi.
