Director Samy, who made controversial films like Uyir, Mirugam and Sindhu Samaveli, declared that his next movie Kangaroo is a clean entertainer. In an official statement, he said, “Kangaroo is the Pasamalar of our times. I have put in a lot of effort to portray the unconditional love between a brother and a sister.” His earlier movies received brickbats for crass content. Samy said, “Despite that, critics thought my understanding of cinema was deep.”
Vairamuthu has written all songs for Kangaroo. Samy also added that the lyricist agreed to reduce his salary as the movie is made on a shoe-string budget. “I’m forever indebted to Vairamuthu sir for writing the songs. I consider him my mentor.”
Singer Srinivas composes music for Kangaroo which features newcomers Arjuna, Varsha Ashwathi and Priyanka in the lead.
