Following criticism for allegedly insulting singer Mohammad Rafi in his latest film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Karan Johar tweeted his frustration at director Vidhu Vinod Chopra and singer Sonu Nigam. In the film, Anushka Sharma has this dialogue: “Mohammad Rafi? Woh gaate kam rote zyada the na?” [Mohammad Rafi? He used to sing less and cry more no?’] Johar recently said on Twitter:
Filmmakers making irresponsible remarks at events..singers revelling in self importance…press releases sent to mask insecurities! Ufff….

Johar’s reference to “irresponsible filmmakers” was about director Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s comments at a recent event, where Chopra said that he did not want to watch Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Chopra said, “The name of the film that you took I haven’t seen it. And I don’t intend to watch it. I have no interest.”
Johar’s comments about singers “revelling in self importance” was in response to Sonu Nigam’s comments. Nigam had called out Johar over the Rafi controversy, and said, “If you can listen to the same joke about your parents then we are wrong.”
So it’s all about loving your family, and disrespecting others’!! And this is not reveling in Self Importance? UFFFFFFF… 🙂
