Kareena Kapoor (with some moral and other support from husband Saif Ali Khan) gave birth to a baby earlier today. The child – currently assigned the male gender – is a first for actress Kareena, and the third for actor Saif. Saif has two children from his previous marriage to actress Amritha Singh.

News of Kareena’s baby was confirmed by Kareena’s father, Randhir Kapoor. “We are very happy. The baby is fine and so is Kareena. All of us are absolutely delighted,” he told Indian Express. The actress’ pregnancy was marked by the media’s breathless coverage of her fashion choices, her many statements about impending motherhood, and even, reports that the couple intended to call the baby ‘Saifeena’.
Kapoor even told press persons at an event, “He finds it really funny. He says we’ll name our child Saifeena.” Her actor husband was forced to issue a statement to put an end to the rumours.
Reports state that the couple intend to name their baby son Taimur Ali Khan. The child will inherit the legacy of the Kapoor Clan, the Pataudi clan, and by name at least, the Mongol dynasty.
