Karthi has reportedly been approached by Sigaram Thodu director Gaurav Narayanan for a film.
The actor is currently shooting for the Bakkiyaraj Kannan directorial, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna. During a break in shoot for the film, Karthi reportedly met director Gaurav on the sets and listened to his script. “He really liked the script and is likely to sign up for it,” a source says in a report by In.com. The actor’s spokesperson told Silverscreen that the project is not confirmed yet.
Gaurav’s latest venture was Ippadai Vellum, starring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Manjima in the lead roles. Gaurav is known for his debut film Thoonga Nagaram, starring him, Vemal, Anjali and others. He later made Sigaram Thodu with Vikram Prabhu, Sathyaraj and Sathish.
Actor Karthi has been busy with many films. He began shoot for the Jeethu Joseph directorial in Goa yesterday. The film stars Jyotika, Sathyaraj and Anson Paul. Music is by Govind Vasantha.
Karthi tweeted saying, “Thrilled to share screen space with Anni (Jyotika) for the first time and looking forward to work with Jeethu Joseph sir. Sathyaraj sir brings more strength to us. With all your blessings shoot begins today.”

While details about their characters are yet to be revealed, reports speculate that Karthi and Jyotika play siblings and Sathyaraj plays their father. Anson Paul of 90ML fame may be seen as the main antagonist.
Karthi recently completed work on Kaithi, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of Maangaram fame. The film is an action-thriller and said to be completely different from Karthi’s previous films. Narain, Kalakka Povathu Yaaru Dheena, Ramana and George play important roles. The film is in post-production stages and is expected to release in June or July.
Karthi has two other two big films under production. The film with Bakkiyaraj Kannan of Remo fame began shoot in March, and is proceeding in full swing. It was recently reported that actor Sathish and Kannada actor Ram signed up for important roles.
Meanwhile, work on Mani Ratnam’s dream project Ponniyan Selvan has also reportedly begun. While the filmmakers are yet to give a confirmation, it has been speculated that Karthi is part of the cast.
