Actor Karthik Muthuraman will most likely be a part of Mani Ratnam’s next film, a political thriller starring Atharvaa. If cast, Karthik will play a negative role.
According to a source, “Right now, Atharvaa has not yet signed the project, but he has verbally agreed. Karthik has been approached for the villain’s role. Pre-production work is on, and the film will pick up once Kaatru Veliyidai is released.”

The film has been provisionally titled Ethir Katchi. Karthik reportedly plays a cunning politician who needs to outwit and outmaneuver everyone else in order to retain his position. The role will chart new territory for Karthik, who has portrayed nice guys thus far. Even in Anegan where he had a negative role, Karthik’s character wasn’t written as menacing.
This will also be Karthik’s fourth film with Mani Ratnam. The two have previously worked together on Mouna Raagam, Agninatchathiram, and Raavan. Mani Ratnam had also launched Karthik’s son Gautham in Kadal.
At present, Karthik is filming Amaran 2. His son Gautham has a special role in Karthik’s Muthuramalingam. He is also a part of Jindha, where actor Vaibhav plays a major role.
