Karthik Subbaraj is likely to reunite with his long term collaborator Vijay Sethupathi, as the producer of his upcoming movie with director Ponram.
Reports suggest that Karthik Subbaraj has signed on. When contacted by Silverscreen, the director said that the project is in discussion stages and it is too early to reveal anything. An earlier report in Maalaimalar said that the director was planning to work with Vijay Sethupathi for his next venture.
Ponram has directed Sivakarthikeyan in three films – Varuthapadadha Vaalibar Sangam, with which he made his directorial debut, Rajini Murugan and Seemaraja.
Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi, who was last seen in Rajinikanth starrer Petta directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is awaiting projects like Super Deluxe directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, in which the actor plays trans-woman Shilpa. The film also stars Samantha Akkineni, Fahad Fazil and others.
He also has Kadaisi Vivasayi, a drama directed by M Manikandan, and a yet-to-be-titled film with S. U. Arunkumar. Maamanithan, which marks the fourth collaboration of Vijay Sethupathi and Seenu Ramasamy, is under production. Thenmerkku Paruvakaatru directed by Seenu was Vijay Sethupathi’s debut as a lead actor. They have worked together on Dharma Durai and Idam Porul Yaeval, both of which went on floors in 2014, but are yet to released. It is also said that they will work on another film after the release of Maamanithan.

Vijay Sethupathi will be making his Telugu debut in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy alongside Chiranjeevi directed by Surender Reddy. It is an Indian historical war film produced by Ram Charan Teja. The story is based on the life of freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy from Rayalaseema. Apart from them, the film also stars Sudeep, Jagapati Babu, Nayanthara, Tamannaah and Brahmaji in pivotal roles, while Amitabh Bachchan will be making a guest appearance.
Vijay Sethupathi will also be making his Malayalam debut in the film Marconi Mathayi, directed by Sajan Kalathil which is currently in the pre-production stage.
