Director Kasthuri Raja has opened up about the maintenance case filed against actor Dhanush. The filmmaker dismissed the claims of the Melur based couple as ‘baseless’. In an interview with TOI, he said:

“I started my film career in 1991 and I’ve been a public figure since then. Everybody knows about my family and therefore I need not explain it to anyone that Dhanush is my son, except to the court. As we’re law-abiding citizens, we’ve submitted all proper records that are required.”
The case was filed by a Melur based couple in 2016. They allege that Dhanush is their third son, who ran away to Chennai in the hopes of pursuing a film career. As they are old and infirm, they have asked Dhanush to provide Rs 65,000 every month to maintain their ‘lifestyle’.
The case has been adjourned to March 9 by the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court.
