Kathanayaka, the first single from the upcoming NTR biopic, sets the stage for what is to come. Old world charm is what music director MM Keeravani is after and so we get a lovely Veena composition that flirts ever so sweetly with Kailash Kher’s uplifting vocals.
When the Mridangam enters into the fray, the song begins to show signs of what it is meant to be – an inspirational number that will likely play over scenes of NTR’s rise to the top.
The purpose of this song is to inject a jolt of inspiration as and when needed. It does the job quite well.
The black and white tinted background of the lyrical video take us back in time to when NTR ruled the Telugu industry.
This is immediately identifiable as a MM Keeravani composition, and with the inclusion of Kailash Kher as vocalist, there are certain comparisons that can be drawn with his work in Baahubali.
Only the tracks to come can set apart this film from the Baahubali series. Both films are based on a huge canvas and need a certain type of musical tapestry to stand upon. So comparisons become inevitable.
