Katrina Kaif About ‘Zero’ And Her Career: “I Feel Fortunate For Everything I’ve Gone Through”

Katrina Kaif Promotes 'Zero'

“I have seen ups, downs, the worst times and the highest of times. I just feel fortunate for everything I have gone through,” said Katrina Kaif at the launch of her new song ‘Husn Parcham’ from her new movie Zero, which also stars Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma.

Kaif started off her career in 2003 with the movie Boom. But it was her stint alongside Salman Khan in David Dhawan’s comedy Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya that won her people’s attention.

Having been in Bollywood for close to 15 years, the actress said “I feel very fortunate that I have experienced so many beautiful things in all these years.”

Soon after starting off, she starred alongside Akshay Kumar in a string of movies like Namastey London, Welcome and Singgh is Kinng – films that were largely responsible for establishing Akshay Kumar as a bankable star. Kaif, however, although considered a lucky charm, was relegated to the background in these movies and hence was never taken seriously as an actor.

But Tees Maar Khan and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, movies that released within the span of a year, turned the tables around for her. While ‘Shiela Ki Jawani’, a song from the former, was lapped up by the nation, her performance as a scuba diving instructor in the latter was appreciated.

Subsequently, Yash Raj studios cast her for a third time in their production alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, a movie where she was directed by the legendary Yash Chopra and shared screen with Anushka Sharma. The movie would go on to become the director’s last film. He passed away shortly after its release.

Zero, directed by Aanand L Rai reunites the cast of Jab Tak Hai Jaan. “I feel fortunate today to be able to work on a film like this, to be a part of this with the kind of talent that we have – Aanand sir, Shah Rukh, Anushka,” she added.

The actress has worked with acclaimed filmmakers like Anurag Basu (Jagga Jasoos), Kabir Khan (Ek Tha Tiger, Phantom) and been part of commercial successes like Dhoom 3 and Tiger Zinda Hai.

“As long as I am getting the opportunity to showcase, learn and take my art forward with the best people we have in the industry today, I am really grateful. As long as I learn every day and improve my craft, give my audience something new, I feel quite happy,” she says.

Zero releases on December 21.
