Merry Christmas is the title of the upcoming film starring actors Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, the makers announced on Saturday on the occasion of Christmas.
Produced by Ramesh Taurani and Sanjay Routray, the film is directed by Sriram Raghavan. Merry Christmas, which marks the first collaboration of the two actors, is currently under production.
Taurani’s post added that the film “promises a thrilling experience” and will be released in Winter 2022.
Sharing the announcement, Kaif said on an Instagram, “Back on set with director Sriram Raghavan for Merry Christmas! I’ve always wanted to work with Sriram sir. He is a master when it comes to narratives that showcase thrillers and it’s an honour to be directed by him. Super excited to be teaming up with Vijay Sethupathi for this one produced by Ramesh Taurani and Sanjay Routray.”
Matchbox Pictures, which is backing Merry Christmas, earlier produced the 2018 film Andhadhun (2018), also directed by Sriram Raghavan. The filmmaker is known for helming films like Ek Hasina Thi, Johnny Gaddaar, Agent Vinod and Badlapur.
Meanwhile, British-Indian actor Kaif was last seen in Sooryavanshi, alongside Akshay Kumar. The film was a huge success, collecting over Rs 77 crore in its first weekend. It helped revived theatres post the pandemic lull.

Kaif has several other upcoming projects, including Gurmmeet Singh’s Phone Bhoot, co-starring Ishaan Khatter and Siddhant Chaturvedi. She will also be seen in Farhan Akhtar‘s Jee Le Zara, alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Alia Bhatt, and in Kabir Khan’s Tiger 3.
On the other hand, Vijay Sethupathi, who was recently seen in a cameo role in Kadaseela Biriyani, has a slew of projects in the pipeline, including a Hindi film titled Mumbaikar, the Tamil films Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal and the Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram. He will also be playing the lead role in the upcoming Malayalam film 19(1) (a).
