KGF Star Yash Quashes Rumours Surrounding Death Threats

Yash At The 'KGF' Press Meet In Chennai

KGF star Yash called a press conference on Sunday and quashed the rumours regarding the threat to his life. Reports about the actor becoming a target of contract killers emerged after the police captured a gang from Sheshadripuram, Bengaluru on Thursday.

According to India Today, the actor said “I want to clarify that I have spoken to the police regarding this and have been clearly told that there is no connection between the arrests and me being a target.”

This was corroborated by Alok Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru who said “As being reported in certain channels, Yash is not the target in the supari (contract killers) case. We can only say that it is related to one prominent personality in Sandalwood.”

This is not the first time that rumours surrounding Yash’s life have come to the fore. “I avoided reacting twice earlier when some TV channels were saying that someone has put out a hit job on me. But this time, it has gone out of hand with channels airing whatever they want,” he said.

But a Bangalore Mirror report states that Yash had lodged a complaint two years ago about receiving death threats.

During the press conference, he requested media to refrain from spreading such rumours. This has been a cause of worry for his friends and relatives. “Every time a gangster is arrested, I am told my life is at risk. I am not a lamb to be slaughtered. I am well aware of my strength,” he added.

Yash rose to national prominence after KGF released in December last year. The movie, directed by Prashanth Neel, released in multiple languages including Hindi and went on to become a huge success. Originally planned as a two-part series, the pre-production work for the sequel is currently under progress.

The actor will soon start shooting for the movie.
