Produced by Anilkumar Nambiar under the banner of Golden Trumpet Entertainments, Koon marks Prashanth’s directorial debut.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, Prashanth said that Koon is a romantic thriller. “The film’s concept will be relatable to all types of audiences beyond language and cultural barriers. We have almost finished the pre-production and are planning to shoot in Ernakulam district as the story is set in a metro location,” he added.

The film will feature Malayalam television presenter Sithara Vijayan and a newcomer named Liimal G Padath in the lead roles. Both artists have been cast after an audition process, the director revealed.

Prashanth added that he was working on another project which was supposed to have taken off in March 2020. However, he had to halt the project when the pandemic struck as the film had a lot of outdoor scenes. “That is when one of the assistant directors, Amal Mohan, came up with the idea for Koon.”

The film’s screenplay is written by Amal Mohan.

“We narrated the script to the same producer, Anilkumar. He liked the story and agreed to produce it while our earlier film was shelved,” said Prashanth.

The director also said that he has roped in the same crew from the stalled project for this film. While Ajith Mathew is composing the film’s music, Shinoob T Chacko is the cinematographer. Sunil Krishna is the editor of the film.

Prashanth added that Koon can be conveniently shot during the pandemic without too much risk. “Since Covid-19 cases are increasing in Kerala, we have ensured that our cast and crew members stay indoors and do not venture out much so we can begin the shoot safely,” he said.

The Kerala State Government recently granted permission for film shootings in category A and B areas of the state with strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols.
