‘Fourth Day Of Stability; Hoping For Some Good News By Monday’: SP Charan On SP Balasubrahmanyam’s Health

Singer-actor SP Balasubrahmanyam who was admitted to MGM Healthcare Hospital, Choolaimedu, on August 5 owing to mild symptoms of COVID19, has been on life support for the past few weeks after his health deteriorated on the night of August 13. Amidst widespread concern for the iconic singer’s health, his son, singer-actor-producer SP Charan has been updating the public regularly to avoid unwarranted speculations about the Padma Vibushan’s health condition.

The latest is that the singer, who is being closely monitored, is still receiving Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) treatment apart from being on life-support. The hospital has also issued a health bulletin stating the same and added that the singer is currently stable. It also mentioned that he is conscious, responsive, and is showing clinical progress.

Last week, there were rumours doing the rounds that the singer had tested negative for COVID19. SP Charan in response to this, put out a video stating that updates about SPB’s health will be given only by him and asked people and fans to not believe any other source. He also added that the singer is stable but is still on ventilator support and is receiving ECMO treatment irrespective of the COVID19 test result.

On the same day, in the evening, SP Charan put out a video saying that he had met SPB yesterday, after two weeks and passed on all of the prayers and offerings given by the film fraternity, friends, and fans. He said that the singer was on sedation and hence could not open his eyes widely, but is gradually recovering and responding well to everyone around him. He added that he is thankful for all the love being showered and asked for the prayers to keep coming. He also said that the offerings have been placed near his hospital bed.

On August 26, SP Charan informed that the doctors noticed a slight improvement in the lung capacity of the singer and that he was responding well and feeling comfortable without any sedation. He was reportedly responding well to the music and people around him but found difficulty in writing when SP Charan asked him to do so. Charan also added that the daily news is being read out to him every morning.

He also said that there is good improvement in the lung capacity of SPB and that the singer has been undergoing physiotherapy owing to the inactivity of the body for all these days.
