The Karthi starrer Madras now faces a lawsuit slapped by the team of Karuppar Nagaram. The producer of the flick has alleged in his petition that Madras is a ‘copy of their film’ and has requested a ban on its release. The local court has asked for a response from the makers of Madras, and will discuss it further on September 22.
Studio Green representatives though, insist that the film will release as planned (on September 26), and claim that the “whole thing is part of a PR strategy”. “They are completely different films. Karuppar Nagaram deals with North Madras football clubs while Madras is a layered story about a typical North Madras guy and his life. To call our film a copy is just a PR stunt,” declared a representative.
