Lingaa Issue: Another Protest Likely To Be Held

Further to the Lingaa issue, which we thought had ended with the last meet, a press meet was held again today by producer and distributor Singaravelan where it was announced that a ‘grace period of 1 week’ would be given to Tirupur Subramaniam, the Producers’ Council, and other concerned parties, to settle the amount. If the condition is not met with, a huge protest would be held next week, in front of Rajinikanth’s residence.

Also, in the meet held yesterday, it was announced that producer Mannan – who belongs to the Chengalpet region – had settled the money in his area on his own, and had later received the amount from Kalaipuli S Thanu. However, in today’s press meet, several theatre owners claimed that they did not receive the money, and couldn’t get in touch with Mannan at all.

The theatre owners and distributors further announced that they will not extend their co-operation to movies funded by Kalaipuli S Thanu.

That’s not all, though. The journalists present at the venue, having had enough of the row themselves, suggested that the two warring parties hold a joint press meet – to know who is really at fault.
