The case against Lingaa came up for hearing yesterday. During the proceedings, the official response of KS Ravikumar, Ponkumaran, Rajinikanth and producer Rockline Venkatesh was submitted before the judge. Several discrepancies in Ravirathinam’s lawsuit against Lingaa were pointed out. Ravirathinam had filed a case against the Rajinikanth starrer under the IT act, which does not cover plagiarism.
Moreover, Ravirathinam’s film Mullaivanam 999 (from which the crux of Lingaa’s story is alleged to have been stolen) has only been launched – the actual filming has not been done yet. Citing these two reasons, the counsel appearing for Lingaa requested the judge to dismiss the case. Additionally, as there was no proper evidence to investigate – both sides refused to furnish the script of their movies – the case has been postponed.
