The makers of the yet-to-be-titled project, Luv Films, took to social media on Tuesday to make the announcement.

The upcoming film is a romantic comedy, which also stars filmmaker Boney Kapoor as the father of Ranbir Kapoor’s character while Dimple Kapadia will be playing his mother. This film will mark the acting debut of Boney Kapoor.

Ranjan, who has previously directed Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, had announced this film back in 2019. However, the untitled film was on hold for a year-and-a-half, Ranbir Kapoor had said during a 2020 video interview with Rajeev Masand.

The shooting, which kept getting postponed due to the pandemic, finally began in January 2021.

The film has been partly shot in Delhi and Mumbai, and the final schedule is set to take place in Spain later this year, according to Pinkvilla. The unit, along with the entire cast, will be flying there in the summer, either May or June, as per the report. “Spain forms an important backdrop for a small portion of the romcom. Ranbir has completed his Brahmastra shoot and he wants to complete Luv’s Indian schedule before he gets into Sandeep Venga Reddy’s Animal where he needs to have a certain look,” a source told Pinkvilla, adding that apart from the pandemic, it has also been a challenge coordinating the dates of the cast, particularly Boney Kapoor and Kapadia, who have both been busy with other projects.

The source further informed the publication that prior to heading to Spain, the team will complete the penultimate schedule in Delhi and Mumbai during the first two weeks in March.

Ranjan’s upcoming film marks the first on-screen pairing of the lead actors. This is also their first collaboration with the director.
