The Madras High Court has dismissed a petition filed by KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, to ban sites that threatened to release his film Singam 3. Raja sought direction from the High Court to various agencies in the central and state government to restrain the Internet Service Providers Association of India from permitting several websites from releasing his film. The Hindu reports that Justice T Raja dismissed the writ petition, and suggested that Raja ‘move a civil suit instead, with suitable prayer’.
The producer approached the Madras HC for help days after his angst-ridden speech at the audio launch of Yeman where he spoke out against piracy. Raja had read a message from TamilRockers.com which said that Si 3 would be leaked online at 11 am on the day of its release, via Facebook live stream.
“We are making all possible ways [sic] to ensure that the entire network associated with TamilRockers is shut down soon. They are earning a lot of money through piracy, which is a big crime,” he told The Times of India in a recent interview.

Raja even spoke about contesting in the Producers’ Council election next month as he held the TFPC responsible for allowing piracy to flourish in the state. “They had signed a tender with the local cable operators which allowed the latter to use the content of producers. When I was the secretary, I made sure that this never happened. But they made the deal again. Thanu, T Siva, Radhakrishnan and many other office bearers have been involved in this. Now that the next election is all set to happen soon, I am sure that positive changes will happen after our team emerges victorious,” he was quoted as saying.
