Magalir Mattum is all set to hit the screens on 15 September. Jyothika plays a documentary filmmaker in the film directed by Bramma of Kuttram Kadithal fame. Actor Suriya, whose 2D Entertainments is bankrolling this project, shared the new release date this morning.

The makers initially planned to release the film in February this year but had to postpone it owing to the post-production work. The movie faced another delay after it was supposed to release on August 11. The makers wanted to avoid a clash with Dhanush’s Velaiyilla Pattathari 2, also releasing on the same date.

Magalir Mattum has been censored with a U certificate. Apart from Jyothika, the film also stars Saranya Ponvannan, Urvashi and Bhanupriya, and explores the concepts of women empowerment and feminism through the lives of these four women who go on a road trip.
The movie is jointly produced by Suriya under his 2D Entertainments with Christy Pictures, and Santhosh Narayanan is the music composer.
