The first look poster of Mahat Ragavendra and Aishwarya Dutta’s rom-com Kettavanu Per Edutha Nallavanda, directed by Prabhu Ram C has come under criticism.
Mahat, an actor found fame as a participant in the TV show Bigg Boss Tamil. The first look poster of his latest film was unveiled recently and featured Mahat as a Simbu fan, one who tattoos the actor’s name and face in his hand. The poster also shows a cutout of Simbu in the backdrop. But soon after the poster’s release, it became controversial after people noticed a group of dancers in the background looked familiar. It seemed like a still lifted from the song of Vishal’s Kathakali. Many believed that this seeming lift was intentional.

However, the film’s director Prabhu Ram has tried to put an end to the controversy. In a press statement, he said, “This film will have references of many other biggies from Kollywood. Spoof will play a major part in our film, as we think this will attract youth and movie buffs to the film. If we had come up with a normal poster, our film would’ve been just another product, one of the many Pongal extravaganza. The poster is a kind of a visual trap, placed for the audience to react to and engage with, and I’m happy with the reception.”
Confirming that the protagonist will play a Simbu fan, Prabhu said, “The title has more significance to the character that Mahat plays in this film. Mahat plays a freewheeling guy from North Chennai and his real-life equation with STR will add up an extra mileage to Mahat’s onscreen character.” The director further adds that the onscreen chemistry of Mahat and Aishwarya will be a major strength to the film.
Sharing that the film has progressed well, the director said “We have 15 more days left for the completion, with a song to be filmed in Courtallam. The talkie portions are almost complete”.
Kettavanu Per Edutha Nallavanda is produced by Varnalaya Cine Creations, and its music is composed by Dharan Kumar, cinematography is by Enniyan J Harris, and B.Pravin Baaskar has handled the cuts.
