On Monday, The first single ‘Thumbi Thullal’ from Ajay Gnanamuthu‘s Cobra dropped on Jio Saavn and later the lyrical on Youtube. It recorded more than one lakh plays on Jio Saavn and has crossed three million views on Youtube.
The melody rendered by Shreya Ghoshal and Nakul Abhyankar in a tune composed by AR Rahman has a serene wedding vibe with a touch of a celebratory mood. ‘Thumbi Thullal’ is reportedly the engagement song of Madhiazhagan (Vikram) and Bhuvana Menon (Srinidhi). Vivek has penned lyrics for the song.

On Tuesday, a video of Sahana, who won the second place in Zee Tamil’s musical reality TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and has visual impairment, playing the song, ‘Thumbi Thullal’ on her keyboard went viral, garnering likes and retweets. Last evening, composer AR Rahman had retweeted the same with the caption ‘Sweet’.

On Thursday, Lalit Kumar’s Seven Screen Studio, the producers of Cobra, gifted the girl with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo Studio Audio Interface and Presonus Eris 4.5 High Definition Studio Monitor Speaker as a token of appreciation for her cover video. Sahana’s family thanked the makers and the composer for the gesture.

Cobra stars actor Vikram, marking his 58th film, and is the Tamil film debut of Srinidhi Shetty of KGF fame. Irfan Pathan, 13th Belief fame Vidya Lakshmi, KS Ravikumar, Shane Nigam, Super Singer fame Poovaiyar and Comali director Pradeep Ranganathan are also playing crucial roles in the film.
Cobra has completed 90 days of shoot so far and is left with about 25% of shoot, which will be completed post lockdown. The film which was earlier slated for a May 2020 release will now hit screens once theatres open.
