Malayalam actor Sarath Kumar, best known for his performance in Angamaly Diaries, is all set to star in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivandha Vaanam. Essaying a supporting role in the film, the actor will begin shooting next month.
According to The Indian Express, Kumar, apart from Mani Ratnam’s multi-starrer, will also feature in Vishal’s Sandakozhi 2. The actor plays a villain in the film.
Having made his debut in Angamaly Diaries as Appani Ravi, the actor went on to star in the Mohanlal film Velipadinte Pusthakam, famously known for its ‘Jimikki Kammal’ song. He will also be seen in Mohanlal’s Odiyan, set to release this year.

Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivandha Vaanam is a multi-starrer with a star cast of Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu, Prakash Raaj, Arun Vijay, Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari and Aishwarya Rajesh. Madras Talkies and Lyca Film Productions are producing the film. The film is titled Nawab in Telugu. The music will be composed by AR Rahman, lyrics by Vairamuthu, while Santhosh Sivan helms the camera. This is Mani Ratnam’s first film after Kaatru Velliyidai.
The film went on floors in Chennai’s ECR last week.
