Malayalam actors Mohanlal and Mammootty will be part of the 60-member team of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) that will perform in Abu Dhabi on December 7 to raise funds for the Kerala Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
According to an IE report, a meeting was held by the AMMA executive committee to finalise the details of the show ‘Onnanu Nammal’ which will be held in partnership with the Malayalam channel Asianet. The proceeds will go towards helping the victims of the Kerala Floods.
“The show is being directed by director T K Rajeev Kumar. There will be a one-week rehearsal starting November 28. The duration of the programme would be around five hours and would begin in the evening,” said actor Jagdish, the treasurer of the association.
Mohanlal, the president of the organisation, spoke about the show in the UAE recently. “The theme of the show will be ‘panchabhootas.’ We are trying to employ lasers along with this. We are also planning to do something with the 3D mapping technology,” he said.
Prominent names like Manju Warrier, Nivin Pauly Dulquer Salmaan and Prithviraj are part of the group that will be performing at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi from 5.30.p.m.
When asked during a recent interview if the show was part of a brand building exercise after the association faced the wrath of the media when it decided to reinstate accused actor Dileep into the organisation, Mohanlal said, “We don’t want the limelight. We are trying to do good things.”

The show organised by the association last year had come under sharp criticism for ridiculing the women actors of the industry who had formed the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) – an organisation formed to ensure safe working spaces for women in the industry after the assault on an actress in February last year.
When asked if the association would be cautious this time around, the actor said, “Its all about perception. We’ve never had any intention to ridicule anyone.”
