Bheeshma Parvam, the Mammooty-starrer that released on Thursday, has collected around Rs 6 to 6.25 crores at the Kerala box-office on its first day, according to a Pinkvilla report.
The film opened in 406 screens and had 1775 shows on day one.
The report adds that the film grossed approximately Rs 50 lakhs in the rest of India as it had a limited number of shows. So the all India opening-day collection for Bheeshma Parvam is roughly Rs 6.50 – 6.75 crores.
This puts the film in line to match the collection of Aaraattu. The Mohanlal-starrer, that was released on February 18, collected Rs 17.80 crores at the global box office in its first three days.
Directed and produced by Amal Neerad, Bheeshma Parvam is written by Neerad in association with Devadath Shaji and Ravi Shankar.
Aside from Mammootty, who plays Michael, the family head, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Nadiya Moidu, Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan, Srindaa, Lena, and Sreenath Bhasi, among several others.
Ahead of the film’s release, Mammootty in a press meeting said that Bheeshma Parvam is a story of families and each character in the film will be remembered by their name. “Every film or story, even our lives, have some elements of Mahabharata. Likewise, this film also has references to the epic,” he added.

In her review for Silverscreen India, Aswathy Gopalakrishnan also noted the reference to Mahabharata. “Michael is the well-dressed patriarch of the illustrious Anjootti family that lives in a sprawling mansion. His authority stems not just from his status as the eldest of the siblings but from an act of self-sacrifice he committed in his youth – he murdered his father’s killers and served life imprisonment. Like Bheeshma, who vowed to protect his family, even by covering up the misdeeds of some of its members, Michael devotes himself to Anjootti, to keep the family together and its name untainted.”
Mammootty has several upcoming projects in the pipeline, including Puzhu, Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam and CBI 5: The Brain.
