According to a report, the director is all set to cast Vijay in a fresh new role. Some speculations say that Mani Ratnam has revived his dream project Ponniyin Selvan, which was announced a decade back as starring Vijay and Mahesh Babu. However, it is also said that the upcoming film with Vijay is not the old one, but a new script, as the director has shelved Ponniyin Selvan temporarily.

The duo had last worked together on Nerukku Ner, directed by Vasanth, after which they couldn’t collaborate as things didn’t fall in place. It has been reported that the film will have a mega budget, and will be produced by Lyca Productions. If things go as planned, the untitled film might release sometime in 2020.

Talking about this to Silverscreen, a spokesperson of the actor told that so far nothing has been confirmed from the actor’s side.

Some say Vikram and STR might play the other lead roles in the film. But STR is said to have neither confirmed nor denied the project, as he is currently working on post production for Sundar C’s Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven. He also has Maanadu, a political drama directed by Venkat Prabhu, in its pre-production stage.

Actor Vijay, who was last seen as a ‘corporate criminal’ in AR Murugadoss’ Sarkar, currently has Thalapathy 63 directed by Atlee. Vikram, who was last seen in a cop action drama Saamy Square, a sequel to 2003 Saamy, is awaiting the release of Dhruva Natchathiram, a spy thriller directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. He is also working on Kadaram Kondan, an action thriller directed by Rajesh Selva.
