Manisha Koirala, who made a strong comeback recently with Lust Stories on Netflix, cherishes the love that has come her way for her portrayal of Reena, a woman in a relationship with her husband’s best friend.
The actress, who usually dresses conservatively on screen, wore a bikini for a scene in the segment directed by Dibakar Banerjee. Speaking to IANS, the actress said: “That was the idea of director Dibakar Banerjee. He came saying this is how he wants the scene to be, and my first reaction was like, ‘Why? I mean in my youth, I never wore a swimsuit in films’.” Ultimately, Dibakar convinced her about why it was necessary.
Manisha Koirala, a cancer survivor, says she feels more liberated in her late 40s than ever before, contrary to the common perception that middle-aged female actors get less work in Bollywood.
A report in the Hindustan Times quoted the actress as saying she needs feedback and appreciation from people to know she’s done the right thing. “Even after spending a substantial time in the entertainment business, before the release of a film, I am nervous.”

“I want to look pretty in every phase of my life… but I also love acting. If I have to sacrifice my vanity for a character that I am excited to play, I am ready,” IANS quoted her as saying. She also pointed out that if she were offered a role that demanded glamour, she would work on her looks. After all, like she said, she has done her share of on-screen glamour.
Manisha Koirala, whose performance in films such Khamoshi, Akele Hum Akele Tum, 1942: A Love Story and Dil Se struck a chord with the audience, was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju, where she essayed the part of the late Nargis Dutt.
