Marathi Film ‘Sairat’ To Be Remade In Tamil And Telugu Soon

Marathi film Sairat, that released last year and became massively successful, is all set for its Telugu and Tamil remake. The remakes will reportedly go on floors soon with the original director, Nagaraj Manjule, likely to helm them.

According to a Deccan Chronicle report, Rockline Venkatesh said that he would make the films in association with Zee Studios. Much like the original, the remake will most likely feature new faces as opposed to well-established actors. Details of the new actors and the rest of the cast and crew will be announced soon.

Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat broke all records in Marathi cinema, collecting a staggering Rs 60 crore within the first three weeks. The film about the relationship between a lower-cast man and his upper-cast classmate, was critically acclaimed.

The film will also reportedly have a Hindi remake starring veteran actress Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor and Ishan Khatter. Shashank Khaitan, who directed the Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya will direct while Karan Johar will produce it through his Dharma Productions.
