Popular production and distribution house Masterpiece has acquired the Tamil and Telugu remake rights of actress Taapsee Pannu starrer Rashmi Rocket prior to the release of the film. The original Hindi sports drama is helmed by Akarsh Khurana (Karwaan) and is being bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala‘s RSVP Movies and Neha Anand and Pranjal Khandhdiya’s Mango People Media Network banner.
While several other production houses were also in the run, Masterpiece has emerged the winner. Developments on the remakes will be revealed soon, the banner revealed.

Rashmi Rocket revolves around a young girl sprinter from a village in Kutch who braves several hurdles with the outer world and her inner self while attempting to showcase her talent. Her incredible speed earns her the nickname ‘Rocket’ in the village.
While the rest of the cast and crew is yet to be revealed, Priyanshu Painyuli, who recently made his international debut with Netflix’s Extraction, has landed the role of an army officer and Amit Trivedi is composing the music of the film. Oru Kallooriyin Kadhai fame Nanda Periyasamy along with Aniruddha Guha and Kanika Dhillon have penned the story of Rashmi Rocket.

The film was announced in August 2019 and is all set to go on floors in November. It is slated to hit screens next year.
